Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 31, 2026

Fernomi is a period tracking and wellness app built with your privacy as the priority. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don't, and what happens to your data.

Data stored on your device

All of your personal data (your name, avatar, cycle length, period dates, flow and symptom logs, journal entries, mood check-ins, health conditions, and dietary preferences) is stored locally on your device: iOS's built-in storage on iPhone, or an encrypted on-device datastore on Android. This data stays on your phone. It leaves only in two cases, both of which you control: the Share feature described below, and Apple Health / Health Connect if you turn that on.

Apple Health and Health Connect

Fernomi can both read from and write to your phone's health store (Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android). Nothing happens here until you grant permission, and you can withdraw it at any time in your phone's settings.

What we read (only with your permission): menstrual flow, sleep, steps, active energy, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, workouts, mindful minutes, basal body temperature, water, caffeine, and, on iOS 17 and later, State of Mind. We use these to fill in your cycle history and to personalise your daily insights.

What we write (only with your permission): the periods you log, and the symptoms you record during your Daily Check-in. This keeps the Health app, and anything else you have connected to it, in step with what you have logged in Fernomi.

Writing periods to Apple Health can be switched off at any time under Settings → Apple Health in the app. The same screen has an option to delete everything Fernomi has written there. We only ever remove our own entries. Periods you logged in Health itself, or through another app, are never touched.

Anything written to your health store lives under your phone's own privacy controls, not ours. If you have Health enabled in iCloud, Apple syncs it between your devices under Apple's privacy policy. Apps you have granted health access to may be able to read it, exactly as they can for any other health data on your phone.

Data we do NOT collect

The "Share with Someone" feature

When you choose to share a snapshot with a partner, mom, friend, or coach, a compact encoded link is generated that contains only the information you selected (phase, cycle day, mood scores if enabled, journal note if enabled, dietary preferences, and first name). The data is embedded directly in the URL. We do not store it on any server. The link stops displaying after the duration you chose (1 day, 1 week, or 1 month). Because the snapshot travels inside the link itself rather than on a server, treat the link like the information it contains: anyone you send it to can keep a copy, and expiry is applied by the page that opens it. Only share it with people you trust.

"Ask Fernomi" chat on shared links

When the person you share with asks questions via the chat on your shared link, their questions are sent to our server and forwarded to Google's Gemini AI. Before the question is sent:

We do not log or retain the conversations. Google's Gemini API processes each request per their own privacy policy.

On-device AI (iOS 26+)

If you're on iOS 26 or later, the personalized recommendations in your shared snapshots may be generated using Apple's on-device Foundation Models. This generation happens entirely on your iPhone. No data is sent to Apple or anyone else during this step.

Your control over your data

You can delete everything Fernomi stores by deleting the app from your phone. Because it is all held locally, uninstalling removes it. One exception: anything Fernomi wrote to Apple Health or Health Connect belongs to your health store, not to the app, so it survives uninstalling. To remove that too, use Settings → Apple Health → Remove Fernomi periods from Health before you delete the app, or delete the entries from the Health app afterwards.

AI is not medical advice

Any guidance provided in the app or via the Ask Fernomi chat is general wellness information, not medical advice. Please consult a qualified healthcare provider for any medical concerns.

Children

Fernomi is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
